FAQ
What you might want to know
Answers to the most common questions about Arbitro.
What is Arbitro?
Arbitro is a web app for learning and testing the rules of ice hockey. It contains over 1500 practice questions based on the current IIHF rulebook, an explanation with a reference to the exact rule or situation after every answer, and statistics that show your progress. It runs in the browser on desktop and mobile.
Who is Arbitro for?
Primarily for ice hockey referees preparing for rules examinations, but also for players, coaches and fans who want to learn the rules properly. Questions are grouped by difficulty, so both beginners and experienced referees can use it.
Which rulebook are the questions based on?
The questions are based on the current IIHF rulebook. After answering, each question links to the specific rule or model situation, so you can verify the solution in the rules themselves.
How much does Arbitro cost?
Signing up is free and requires no credit card – you get 3 free self-tests to try it out. Premium costs 22 € per month or 45 € per year and unlocks unlimited self-tests, the AI rules chatbot, rule explanations and detailed statistics.
Can I try Arbitro for free?
Yes. After signing up you get 3 free self-tests and you do not have to enter any payment method. Tests assigned to you by your organization via a code are unlimited even without Premium.
How does the AI rules chatbot work?
You ask about any situation or rule in your own words and the chatbot answers with a reference to the relevant rule or situation from the rulebook. It is part of Premium.
Which languages does Arbitro support?
The interface is available in English, Czech, Slovak and German. Test questions and rule explanations are available in English, Czech and Slovak.
Can a federation or club assign a test to its referees?
Yes. An organization (federation, club, referee committee) prepares a test in Arbitro, distributes it to its members with a code and sees the results of every participant. Participants can take such a test without Premium.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Arbitro runs in an ordinary browser. On a phone you can add it to your home screen as an app (PWA) and launch it without the address bar.
Can I configure a test myself?
Yes. For a self-test you choose the number of questions, the mix of question types (single or multiple correct answers) and the specific rules or topics, so you practise exactly what you need.
Do I get to see the correct answers and explanations?
For self-tests, yes – after answering you see the correct solution and an explanation with a rule reference, and once finished you can review the whole test. For tests assigned by an organization it depends on how the organization configured them.
